Malin Kondang
This is a story about malin kundang. He was a boy from a very poor family who live with his mom. His father died when he was child. Malin was a smart boy but a bit naughty. Because of their poorness, they must live by lending some money from creditor. This is their story in the morning.
Mother : “Malin…Malin..Where are you? Why are you so lazy?”
(Malin comes from his room)
Malin : “What’s up Mom? Why do you make a lot of noise in this morning?”
Mother : “What time is it? Look at yourself. It’s better for you to find a job. We have nothing but we have to pay our debt to creditor.”
Malin : “Relax, Mom. I am trying to get job but I get no job, Mom.”
Mother : “How you can get a job if you just sleep all day long!”
In the middle of conversation, suddenly there is someone who knock the door.
Creditor :”(Tok..tok..tok…) Hello, anybody home?”
Mother : “Come in, please…”
(When the creditor enter the house, she saw Malin eat fried cassava in that room.)
Creditor :”Hey…your life is so nice, but don’t you remember your debt has already overload.
(Malin laugh and he offers the cassava to creditor.)
Malin :”Hahaha… do you want it? (He gives the creditor a plate of fried cassava)
Creditor : “What’s the matter with you? Are you kidding me?
She come to Malin and she almost hit his head but his mother protect him.
Mother :” I’m really sorry. He doesn’t mean to do that. I promise, I will pay my debt but today we don’t have money.”
Creditor :”You always say like that. Your promise is only a promise. I want you to make it sure because it’s your time limit, but I will give you time until this week.”
Mother :”OK. I know that I have no choice but I will try.”
Creditor :”Don’t say you will try, but you must!”
The creditor go away. Malin only stand up without saying anything. Suddenly, he come to his mother.
Malin :”Mom, may I go to the city to get job?”
Mother :”Oh…Malin, my lovely son. Don’t do that. You know that you are the only one that I have in the world.”
Malin :”Mom, if I don’t get a job, how can we pay our debt?”
Mother :”OK. If that is your decision, I can’t say anything. I will let you go.”
Next morning, before he leaves the village, he meet his girlfriend, Siti Meriang. From far away they look at each other and they run to make it closer.
Mali :” Siti, my sweety darling, I will go to the city today. I’m sorry. I should do this. I promise if I get a job, and I get much money, I will back home and marry you.”
Siti Meriang :”Oh…Malin, you hurt my heart. Why should you go to the city?”
Malin :”I’m so sorry, honey, don’t have time. It’s very urgent. I must pay my debt. Good bye.”
Siti Meriang can’t say anything. She only crying while watching Malin go away.
When Malin arrived in town, suddenly in the market near bus station, he came across the robbery. The victim is a young lady named Steffy Bakery, and her secretary, Luna Mayong.
Luna :”Help…help…”
Steffy :”Jambret…jambret…jambret…!”
Malin catch up the robber and he get the bag. He returns the bag to the young lady.
Malin :”This is yours.”
Luna :”Ok. Thank you.”
Malin :”You’re welcome.”
Luna :”Miss Steffy, This is yours. There’s nothing missing.”
Steffy :”That’s very kind of you. May I know your name?”
Malin :”I’m Malin. And you?”
Steffy :”Steffy Bakery. It’s my secretary, Luna Mayong.”
Luna :”Luna Mayong.”
Steffy :”Malin, where do you stay?”
Malin :”I have just arrived here. I don’t have place to stay.”
Steffy :”So, why are you here?”
Malin :”I intend to get job.”
Steffy :”Oh… it’s your lucky. My father is looking for a driver. Would you like to occupied that position?”
Malin :”Are you sure? Of course, I want it!”
Steffy :”Good. Let’s go.”
Malin is introduced to her father and start to work and stay in Steffy’s house. After a long time he work there, Steffy fall in love with him. Finally, they married and Malin get a good position in Steffy’s father company as manager. As a present for their wedding, her father give them tickets to Bali.
Malin :”Honey, tomorrow I will enjoy the time only with you. I am so happy.”
Steffy :”Me too. I can’t imagine how happy I am. It’s only you and me.”
The next day, they have ready to go to Bali. All the preparation has done. They go by car to the airport. In the middle of their way, the car has flat tyres. Malin try to get help.
Malin :”Honey, I will get help near here. I see there is a village. Do you want to come with me?”
Steffy :”Yes, of course. I don’t want you leave me alone here.
Malin :”Ok.”
They walk to the village, and someone look at him surprisingly, but she suddenly disappear. The girl knows Malin and she goes to Malin’s house to tell Malin’s mother about Malin’s arrival. At that time, Malin’s mother is talking with Siti Meriang.
Girl :”Mak, do you know,mak? I saw Malin. Malin is back Mak. It is true!
Mother :”Are you sure?”
Girl :”1000% sure, Mak!
Siti :”Malin is come back? So, where is he now?”
Girl :”Over there. Just follow me.”
In other side, Malin try to get help. He doesn’t realize that many people come to them.
Mother :”Malin…Malin… Is that you, Malin? Oh my son, finally you come back. I miss you so much.”
Siti :”Malin… you keep your word. You back home now.”
Steffy :”Who’s them?”
Malin :”I don’t know!”
Mother :”Do you forget me? I am your mother.”
Siti :”Malin, why do you change? As you never know me before.”
Malin :”I really don’t know who you are. Don’t disturb me. Leave us now!
Steffy :”I’m sure that you must be meet the wrong person. He is not the person who are you looking for.”
Mother :”You are my son. Although you pretend, you didn’t know me but I know you are my son. Malin, you are not good son. You forget me, your mother. You pretend as you’ve never known me. I don’t want to have a son like you. I curve you to be a stone!”
Thunderbolt heared immediately, and Malin changed to be a stone. All people saty in silnce. Mother, Steffy and Siti cried together. The situation changed being sad, Mother regret all that she has done.
